ASIAN FUSION

Cairn Terrier

CHESTER

This tutorial shows an Asian Fusion–inspired groom with bold shape and a playful finish. The body is kept short and tidy, the legs are left full and animated, and the head is styled to suit the look, with butterfly ears deliberately left long to become part of the final shape.

Sue talks through how and why each section is clipped or left longer, showing how separating the body, legs, head, and ear furnishings creates that fun, toy-like Asian Fusion silhouette.

Part 1 Body pattern, legs, and tail

The groom starts by setting a short body pattern, clipped smoothly with the lay of the coat. Sue drops neatly into the front and back legs, shaping through the chest and flanks to create a nipped-in body with big, flared legs.

Wide feet are shaped and blended, the tail is tidied without overworking it, and the butterfly ear furnishings are intentionally left alone at this stage so they can be styled later.

Part 2 The Head

The focus shifts to the head and face, working carefully around the butterfly ears so they frame the head rather than disappearing into it. Sue shortens the visor to open the eyes, tidies the ears, and shapes a soft Asian Fusion muzzle.

The groom is finished with final blending, balance checks, and a few small details that pull the whole look together, letting the butterfly ears do their thing.
