ASIAN FUSION

Toy Poodle

CHUCKIE LUND

BETTY

Asian Fusion does not always have to mean giant legs and a face that needs a daily comb and a prayer. In this tutorial, Chuckie shares a client-friendly version of the style on Betty, a toy poodle, with the same Asian influence and clean outline, but shaped to suit real-life coat maintenance.

You will see how Chuckie sets a tidy jacket with an attachment comb, builds manageable leg shape, and finishes with a short mushroom-style head. There are also two leg options included: one for groomers who love a scissor finish, and one using an attachment comb to make the same look easier to achieve when you are still building confidence.

Bonus points for the fun extras in this groom too, including a little love heart detail and a neat tail pom.

Part 1 The Jacket | Chuckie sets the head guideline first, then clips a clean, even jacket using an attachment comb over a short blade for a smooth finish. The pattern is placed to keep the body tidy and practical, with room left for a small love heart detail through the jacket.

Part 2 Setting in the front legs | This section focuses on creating front legs that still look “Asian”, but are more manageable for everyday clients. Chuckie tidies the shape, keeps the outline clean on the move, and avoids leaving heavy coat that will matt quickly.

Part 3 Chuckie shows two approaches to the back legs: a scissored finish on one side, then an attachment comb option on the other for newer groomers. Angulation is added for shape, then the tail is finished with a small pom for a polished, playful look.

Part 4 The groom is completed with a short mushroom-style head, using curved scissoring and careful blending around the ear line that was set at the start. Chuckie also shares coat prep notes to help the head hold shape and stay light, even on a black coat.
