Corgi X
FUDGE
Fudge is a darling old lady Corgi cross at 13 years young. She is in for a salon clip with Jess today. You never know what you are going to get with a cross breed, both in terms of coat type and temperament. Fudge has a #4F on her body and legs. As an older dog, she likes to sit a lot during the groom. Jess works with Fudge to make her as comfortable as possible. She is groomed regularly, every 4-8 weeks.
Part 1
Jess begins Fudge’s salon groom with a 4F blade through the body and legs, working carefully with her unusual mixed-breed coat texture and senior comfort needs. Along the way, she discusses clipping with the grain, handling older dogs who prefer to sit, working around lumps and bumps, and adapting your grooming approach to suit the individual dog in front of you.
Part 2
In this section, Jess focuses on scissoring and finishing work, including feet, legs, underline, and tail. She demonstrates practical salon techniques for tidying coated legs, shaping neat feet, and working efficiently with a senior dog who prefers to groom sitting down. Fudge’s long “flag tail” is also shaped to complement her fuller overall style.
Part 3
Jess finishes Fudge’s groom by styling her signature fuller head and long ears. Using a combination of clipper work, attachment combs, thinners, and scissoring techniques, she demonstrates how to create a balanced pet-style finish while adapting to Fudge’s unique coat texture, ear set, and expression.
