Study Notes | Key Concepts

    • Use #10 or #7 blades for short body coats.

    • Clip in the direction of coat growth to avoid lines and maintain smoothness.

    • Create wide bases and taper toward the top for animated, doll-like legs.

    • Use comb attachments and scissors for precise shaping.

    • Shape rounded muzzles and “kissy lips” by clipping under the nose and sculpting the sides.

    • Leave curtain-like hair around the ears for a whimsical effect.

    • Clip the top third of the ears with a #15 or #40 blade for a clean finish.

    • Shape edges with thinning shears for a soft, rounded appearance.

    • Use thinning shears for seamless transitions between clipped and natural coat areas.

    • Leave the tail mostly natural, trimming only stray hairs for balance.

    • Add accessories like bows or bibs for a fun, finished look.
