Workplace Induction Essentials for Dog Grooming Businesses
Help your team work safely, confidently, and with care from day one
These short, industry-specific induction courses cover the essentials every grooming business needs, from workplace safety and first aid to hygiene and infection control. They’re practical, easy to follow, and designed to help your team start strong and stay safe.
Want your team to take WHS seriously? This is where to start.
This course is designed specifically for our industry - because salons aren’t offices, and dog groomers don’t sit at desks. It covers the real risks you and your team face every day, with practical, grooming-specific safety advice that actually applies.
In around 2.5 hours, staff will explore:
How can we make dryers, baths, and tables safer to use every day?
What PPE and hygiene practices really matter in a grooming environment?
How do we recognise stress - in both dogs and people - before it escalates?
What small changes prevent injury and fatigue on the job?
How should cleaning and noose safety be managed consistently across the team?
Keep your team informed, your dogs protected, and your workplace hygienic.
This course helps your team understand the most common skin conditions and parasites they’ll encounter in the grooming environment - and how to manage them safely. It’s about recognising what’s normal, what’s not, and protecting dogs, staff, and clients through good hygiene and practical infection control.
In around 3 hours, staff will discover:
How can we identify and manage common skin and coat problems early?
What parasite risks exist in grooming spaces - and how can we prevent them?
How do we stop cross-contamination between dogs?
What makes an effective cleaning and disinfection system?
How should contagious cases be handled safely and professionally?
When accidents happen, make sure your team knows what to do.
This course gives your team the confidence to respond calmly and correctly when something goes wrong. It focuses on real-life grooming situations and teaches practical, effective responses that protect both the groomer and the dog.
In around 2 hours, staff explore:
What’s the safest way to respond to cuts, abrasions, or burns?
How should allergic reactions or heat stress be managed?
What’s the right way to restrain an injured or panicked dog?
How do we maintain and use a workplace first aid kit?
When should we stop and call a vet for help?
All courses are mobile-friendly and self-paced, with certificates of completion plus easy access through the igroomschool app. If your business is using the igroomschool B2B Training Subscription, your team already covers this content (and so much more!) in Blocks 1 and 2 - no need to double up.
