Welcome to the Welsh Terrier Pet Trim / Salon Style. A Group 2 dog with a very wiry coat, the Welsh Terrier is, naturally, traditionally hand stripped. Jess runs through how to achieve a pet breed groom on a Welshie with similar lines to a hand stripped dog, by using clippers. Reggie's parents request that he be clipped and not hand stripped.

PART 1 Jess starts this groom by setting in his legs. This removes the bulk and cuts down scissoring time. Jess sets the jacket in with a #5F.

PART 2 Scissoring the Legs. The Welshie’s legs are neat and well blended with a tight foot.Get your comb out!

PART 3 The Underline, Chest and Tail. Jess uses thinning shears to blend the clipper line in and under the dog. Welsh Terriers have more of an underline rather than a skirt. The chest follows through to the underline, and the tail should resemble a carrot.

PART 4 Jess uses a #5F over the top of the head and blends the cheek and underjaw with a #10. A #10 blade is used over the ears and from the corner of the eye to to the corner of the mouth. Take your time using a #10 blade, always make sure it is clean and cool.

- Start at the foot and work upward for clean, parallel leg lines.
- Blend lines thoroughly to avoid harsh transitions.
- Aim for a tight, flat jacket and parallel furnishings.
- Tail: Carrot shape with a wider base tapering to a point.
- Head: Brick-like appearance with flat cheeks and defined skull.
Use shorter blades around the neck and rear to enhance muscle visibility.
