Good Grooming Doesn’t Care Where You Park
Salon or Mobile. It’s Still Grooming.
We hear it now and then:
“I cancelled because I’m a mobile groomer. The tutorials are too salon-based.”
It’s a common misconception, and frankly, a frustrating one. Because good grooming is good grooming, no matter where you recharge your clippers.
The Skills Don’t Change
Whether you’re grooming in a van, a back room, a converted caravan or a state-of-the-art salon, the skills are the same.
You still need safe handling techniques
You still need to understand coat types, clipper lengths, drying methods and styling strategies
You still need to manage dogs, manage time and manage yourself
If anything, mobile groomers need to be more resourceful and efficient than their salon-based peers. Which is exactly why upskilling should be non-negotiable.
The Environment Isn’t the Point
Yes, most of our educators are working in salons or studios when they film. That’s because lights, cameras and clean audio are tough enough without also cramming a videographer into the corner of a mobile trailer. A bit of extra space makes it possible to actually show you what’s happening.
We’re teaching technique. We’re showing real dogs. We’re offering guidance you can adapt to any setup.
Got limited water? No problem. Don’t have a fancy bath? That’s okay. The core lessons are still valid, and mobile groomers around the country are proof of that.
It’s Not Just for Salons
If you wrote off the tutorials because of the filming location, you might have missed some serious value. The skills and techniques inside don’t change just because the walls are painted. It’s worth revisiting with a fresh eye. You might find more that applies to your setup than you expected.
We’re Here for All Groomers
At igroomhub, we don’t mind where you groom. We care how.
Mobile, salon, home-based, in a shed, under a carport. If you’re holding shears and showing up for dogs, you’re our people.
We design education that’s adaptable, real-world and rooted in technique.
We respect the hustle, and we’re here to support it. Whatever your postcode or postcode-on-wheels.
So next time you feel like a tutorial “isn’t for you,” pause and ask if that’s really true. Or if it’s just a story you’re telling yourself.
Because grooming isn’t about the four walls around you. It’s about the dog in front of you, what’s in your hands, and how you use it.
And if you're out there (gently!) brushing out a matted Cavoodle ear with one foot on the footpath and a leaf blower next door, know this: we see you. And you deserve the same education and support as anyone else.
And when you do choose to upskill, be proud of it. Talk about it. Your clients will love that you care enough to keep learning, and it sets you apart from the rest. Especially if you’re mobile, ongoing training helps shift that tired old idea that mobile groomers are somehow less. You know you’re not - and your skills are proof.
