ASIAN FUSION | TOY POODLE

Logan

Join Michelle and her very own little Logan Dog as they share the fabulous groom that awarded her 2nd place at the 2023 Pet Show Grooming Competition. Armed with straws, rat-tail comb, clips and banding box, Michelle demonstrates how to wrap and curl Logan's gorgeous 'chandel-ears', and complement the look with a sharp, clean Asian Fusion body style.

Part 1 Michelle takes her time to band 4 sections of hair on the top of the head, similar to banding a Poodle’s topknot.

Part 2 With the curling section complete for now, Michelle sculpts Logan's body into a Schnauzer like pattern using a blue extension.

Part 3 The front leg flare

Part 4 Logans face and neck set up

Part 5 Now that the face is set in, it is time for the big ear reveal!

    • Incorporate fun elements like curls, donut muzzles, and angular shapes.

    • Use tools like straws, pins, and puffy dog spray to set curls.

    • Wash and fluff-dry weekly to maintain coat health.

    • Use pre-banding techniques to control hair and set styling sections.

    • Use a dark blue extension comb for tight body clipping while leaving key accents for style.

    • Blend the clipped areas seamlessly into flared legs and beveled feet.

    • Create flares on the legs by scissoring at specific angles.

    • Shape the donut muzzle to enhance the dog’s cheerful expression.

    • Keep the top line clean and symmetrical by rounding and blending.

    • Section hair, apply puffy dog spray, and roll tightly with straws and pins.

    • Let curls set for at least an hour for a defined finish.

    • Polish the groom with fine-tooth thinning shears for a professional look.

    • Ensure symmetry by reviewing all angles of the groom.

    • Use safe hair colouring techniques for vibrant accents.

    • Add Asian fusion accessories like collars to complete the look.
