YOSHI
Yoshi the Long Haired Chihuahua is being prepared for a show. As always, bathing and drying correctly is key. Yoshi has come all the way from Japan!
PART 1 Yoshi enjoys a relaxing bath and blow dry. He has his nails clipped and dremelled. He is sporting cute little cat feet.
PART 2 Yoshi has his undercoat removed to reveal a gorgeous black coat. He is then shaped up and ready for the ring! The aim of the next process is to get the jacket sitting flat.

Study Notes | Key Concepts
-
Apply shampoo and a heavy conditioner to areas where the coat should lay flat.
Avoid conditioner on the face or ears to maintain volume in these areas.
-
Use a high-velocity dryer and always dry in the direction of coat growth for a sleek finish.
Avoid drying against the grain to prevent the coat from fluffing up.
-
Use coarse carding knives or fingers to gently remove excess undercoat.
Stretch the skin while working to avoid breaking or damaging sensitive coat types.
-
Create tight, round cat feet by trimming carefully with a brush and scissors.
Use a #30 or #40 blade to clean paw pads for a neat finish.
-
Trim the base of the tail to accentuate the plume shape and define angulations.
Tidy hocks with thinning shears to keep a natural yet polished look.
-
Shape a rounded apple head by trimming the top of the skull and ensuring symmetry.
Shorten hair at the skull’s top to make ears appear larger and enhance expression.
