Too Sensitive? Or Just Paying Attention?
There’s a video doing the rounds this week that’s stirred up a lot of feelings. You might’ve seen it - someone dishing out “advice” to groomers, suggesting that burnout isn’t real, and that if you don’t have brand deals or sponsorships, you haven’t earned them. We watched it too. And here’s what we want to say.
Seen this guy?
Apparently burnout is just an excuse. If you haven’t landed a brand deal or sponsorship, it’s because you don’t deserve one. And if you're not where you want to be, it's because you’re not working hard enough.
That’s not just wrong. It’s a slap in the face to the groomers doing the actual work.
If you’re grooming dogs for a living, you’re already working hard - washing the regulars, styling the mixed breeds, caring for seniors, calming nervous pups, folding towels, picking up poops, educating owners, and showing up day after day. That is the job.
And yes, burnout can happen. Not because you’re “too sensitive,” but because you’re working without enough support, structure, or access to the kind of education that actually makes the job sustainable.
Doing things the smart way isn’t about landing sponsorships. It’s about learning. It’s about knowing your stuff and making decisions that protect your body, your mind, and the dogs in your care.
Because grooming isn’t just about how a dog looks. You’re part of their long-term health. You catch things early. You ease discomfort. You help pets live better lives - and help owners understand how to care for them properly.
You’re part of the community. You’re essential.
So when someone talks down to you like this, don’t take it on. You don’t need to prove anything.
With respect, always
